In the Beginning…
723 Studio was founded by Tony Law, who has a broad academic background including Electrical Engineering (BASc), Environmental Science (MEnvSc), Sustainable and Environmental Design (MSc), and Cartooning (WTHx#$%?). It would be rather difficult to seek a job encompassing all his seemingly dissimilar interests, so it only made sense that the dreamer ventured out into the world of entrepreneurship.
In 2014, the dreamer took advantage of his family-owned derelict industrial unit in Hong Kong to setup a humble “garage” to engage in his many endeavors. The flat is located on the 7th floor and unit#23 of the industrial building, hence the name 723 Studio, and the venture was appropriately kick-started on July 23rd, 2014.
Our Philosophy
Since its conception, 723 Studio has been striving to craft objects that are FUNCTIONAL, SUSTAINABLE, and DELIGHTFUL:
- FUNCTIONAL – it’s always fun to make things with your hands whatever that may be, but we try not to craft objects that are of no use.
- SUSTAINABLE – we try our best to craft objects that don’t hurt our already deteriorating Blue Planet. We strive to craft objects that are sustainable environmentally, economically, and socially.
- DELIGHTFUL – functional and sustainable are the baseline requirements, we hope that the objects we craft can bring people joy, hope, and many delights that transcend our materialistic world.
Our Robo Assistant
Meet Dexter, a robo assistant/mascot who was meticulously crafted in the studio to help us craft and demostrate more and more functional, sustainable, and delightful objects. =)
